I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that she is five feet one
three quarter inches high says she is about Twenty six years of age born and raised
in Caroline County and of a complexion nearly black has a small mole on her
right cheek a small scar on the top of her right arm length wise the arm
and over the arm joint and a long scar of a scythe blade on the back
of her right shoulder and no other notable mark or scar that I have discovered
             In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the Public
(seal)     seal of my office this 8th day of August anno Domini 1826

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas application hath been
made to me by a negro girl named Caroline Reed for a Certificate of her
freedom agreeably to the Act of assembly in such case made and provided
by which said Act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out
of this State upon the Obtention of a Certificate of being free born.  And
whereas also upon the Oath of Elizabeth Satterfield of Caroline County that
the said negro girl named Caroline Reed for whom this Certificate is
made was free born.   I do therefore grant her said application and
hereby Certify that she is five feet and one inch high says she is about
Seventeen years of age was born and raised in Caroline County and of a
complexion nearly black has scars of a burn on and under her right
Jaw and two other scars of a burn on the right side of her neck and no
other notable mark or scar that I have discovered      In Testimony
(seal)   whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the public seal of
office this 11th day of August Anno Domini 1826   Jo Richardson

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas heretofore wit on the
Sixteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and fifteen a certain
Henry A Black & Caleb Connelly of Caroline County by Deed of manumission
duly Executed acknowledged and recorded among the Land records of Caroline
County did manumit and set free a certain negro man named Gabriel
