State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  Whereas application hath been made
to me by a coloured woman named Henny Loockerman for a Certificate of her
freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided
by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of
this State upon the Obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas
also upon the Oath of William Potter of Caroline County that the said coloured
woman named Henny Loockerman for whom this Certificate is made was
free born.  I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that she
is four feet Eleven inches high and an half inch high says she will be
twenty one years of age the 1st of may next was born and raised in Caroline
County and of a dark molatto complexion has a scar across the top or back
of her right thumb and between the joints of the thumb and no other notable
mark or scar that I have discovered      In Testimony whereof I
(seal)  hereto subscribe my name & affix the Public seal of my office this
1st day of august Anno Domini 1826   Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas heretofore to wit:  On the Eighth day of
February Eighteen hundred and three a certain William Webb by Deed of manumission duly
executed acknowledged and recorded among the land records of Caroline County did manumit
and set free a certain negro man named James to be free ^&^ at his liberty when on the
first day of January Eighteen hundred and twenty six and the said negro man named
James (now calling himself James Warwick) having made application to me for a Certificate
of his freedom agreeably to the Act of assembly in such case made and provided.  and
whereas also upon the Oath James D. Webb of Caroline County that the said negro man
named James Warwick for whom this certificate is made is the same person mentioned
in the said manumission.   I do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify
that from his age as expressed in the said manumission he will be twenty seven years
of age in February next he is about five feet seven and a half inches high of a dark
brown complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a mole under his
left eye and a scar on the back of his left hand nearly over the junction of the bones of
his thumb and forefinger & another scar on the inside of the thick part of the thumb
and no other notable mark or scar that I have discovered.  In Testimony whereof
