was manumitted as aforesaid I do hereby Certify that from the age expressed
in the said manumission that the said negro man called Kennedy is about
thirty one years of age five feet three inches high dark Complexion was
raised in Caroline County near Hunting Creek has a Scar on the left
side of his neck occasioned by a bile and a Scar on the right Leg
occasioned by the small Pox and no other notable marks which I can
discover.  In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and
affixed the Public seal of my Office this twenty ninth day of July one
thousand eight hundred and six,  Tho Richardson Clk of Caroline
(Seal)    County Court


Caroline County to wit.  Be it remembered that on the sixth day of September
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six I delivered to
Negro Cato in the following Certificate mentioned a Certificate of which the
following is a true Copy to wit

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas negro Cato heretofore
on the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord seventeen
hundred and ninety nine was manumitted by Sarah Hardcastle
and Solomon Kenton of Caroline County to be free and at perfect
Liberty on the first day of January eighteen hundred and one as by
the said manumission reference being thereto had will appear and by
the Oath of Howell Kenton that the said negro Caro is the identical
person who was manumitted as aforesaid.  I do hereby Certify that
from the age expressed in the said manumission that the said Negro
man called Cato is about forty six years of age five feet eight inches
high dark complexion mentioned in Talbot County near Hillsborough
has a large Scar on his left instep occasioned by the Cut of an ax and
a small Scar on the back part of his hand rather on the right side
and no other notable marks which I can discover.  In Testimony
            whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the Public seal of
(Seal)   my Office this tenth day of September in the year of our Lord eighteen
            hundred and six.  Tho Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court
