State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas application hath been
made to me by a negro woman ^named^ Nancey Palmer (the younger) for a certificate of
her Freedom agreeably to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided
by which said Act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this
State upon the obtention of a Certificate of being free born; and whereas upon the oath
of Thomas F Bourke of Caroline County that the said negro woman named
Nancey Palmer (the younger) for whom the Certificate is made was free born I do
therefore grant her said Application and hereby Certify that she is five feet
three Inches high or thereabouts says she will be twenty five years of age the first
day of August next was born and raised in Caroline County of a black complexion
has a scar on the upper part of the joint of her left arm and another
scar of a cut on the under part of the same arm Commencing at the joint &
extending up the arm and no other notable mark or scar that I have observed
                   In Testimony whereof  I hereto subscribe my name and affix the
(seal)           public seal of my office this 30th day of May anno Domini 1826

to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided by which said Act free
negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention
of a certificate of being free born and whereas upon the oath of Mahala Cooper of Caroline
County that the said negro woman named Dolly for whom this certificate is
made was free born.  I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify
that she is four feet ten inches and three quarters of an inch high or thereabouts says she
is about twenty eight years years of age was born and raised in Caroline County of a
black complexion has two scars crosswise the thick part of her right arm below the
elbow joint one of which scars is on the upper part and the other in line with the
first on the inner part of the arm she has also another scar of a burn on the inner
side of the small of her right leg and no other notable mark or scar that I have
observed
                In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public
(seal)        seal of my office this 2.d day of June Anno Domini 1826
