Downes to whom this certificate is made delivered is the identical person mentioned
in the manumission above recited.  I do therefore grant his said application
and hereby Certify that agreeably to the age expressed in the manumission
afsd the said Daniel Dudley alias Daniel Downes is about forty one
years of age he is five feet eight inches high proportionally made & looks
well for his age was raised in Caroline county and is of a tolerable
black complexion has a very small scar on the left side of his
jaw and no other marks of any note that I can discover.  In Testimony
whereof I ^have^ hereto set my hand & affixed the public seal
of my office this seventeenth day of august in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and twelve.   Tho Richardson Clk of

Caroline County to wit:  I hereby Certify that the afore going is truly and
faithfully taken and copied from the Original Certificate of freedom
granted to the above named Daniel Dudley alias Downes now remaining
of record in my office.  In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe
             my name & affix the public seal of my office this 16th day

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas application hath been
made to me by a coloured girl named Lydia Prattis for a Certificate of her freedom
agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said
Act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the
Obtention of a Certificate of being free born. And whereas also the Oath of
Rolston Tickenor of Caroline County that the said coloured grl named Lydia Prattis
for whom this Certificate is made was free born.  I do therefore grant her said
application and hereby Certify that she is five feet two inches high or thereabouts
says she was nineteen years the Eighteenth day of November last was born and
raised in Caroline County and of a dark molatto complexion has no particular
mark or scar that I have discovered.  In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe
                my name & affix the public seal of my office this 18th day
