194 County and of a molatto complexion has a small scar crosswise the joint of his left wrist and no other notable mark or scar that I have discovered. In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix (seal) the public seal of my office this 6th day of may Anno Domini 1826. Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court Cost 50 cts State of Maryland Caroline county to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a coloured girl named Harriet Garner for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to the Act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this State upon the Obtention of a Certificate of being free born. And whereas also upon the Oath of John Orrell of Caroline County that the said coloured girl named Harriet Garner for whom this certificate is made was free born. I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that she is five feet and an half inch high or thereabouts says she is about Eighteen years of age was born and raised in Caroline County & of a bright molatto complexion and no particular mark or scar that I have discovered In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe (seal) my name & affix the public seal of my office this 12th day of May Anno Domini 1826 Jo Richardson Clk Cost 50 cts of Caroline County Court 2.d see 1.st in page 54 Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas heretofore to wit on the Twentieth day of april in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven Joseph Talbot of Caroline County by Deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of Caroline county manumitted and set free a certain negro man called Daniel Dudley alias Downes hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided & being satisfied by the Oath of Emory Crayna that the said Daniel Downes alias Daniel |
