of Alice Trusty a free yellow woman that the said
Harriott alias Harriott Laws is a free Born
woman.  I hereby Certify that the said yellow
woman called Harriott alias Harriott Laws
is about five feet five inches high and from the best
information which I can obtain she is about or
not exceeding twenty five years of age she is of a
Dark yellow complexion was raised in Caroline
County has several scars on her right hand and
wrist which she says was occasioned by a Burn
by falling on the fire when she was small the
first Joint of her left Thumb is stiff and she has
no other notable marks which I can discover
          In Testimony whereof I have hereto set
          my hand and affixed the Publick seal of
          my Office this twenty sixth day of August
          Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred
          and seven             Tho Richardson Clk
                                      of Caroline County Court


Be it remembered that on the 23d day of Septr 1807 a
Mulatto Man named Benjamin obtained a Certificate
of his freedom of which the following is a copy

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas a certain
Mulatto Man called Benjamin was heretofore to wit on the
21st day of august 1709 by the Justices of Caroline County
Court Liberated and set free from Joseph Dixon on a
petition for his freedom as by the records of Caroline County
manifestly appears  and whereas the said Mulatto Man
called Benjamin hath made application to me for a
Certificate of his freedom agreeably to an act of assembly
upon the Oath of W.m Jackson  that the. said Mulatto
Man called Benjamin is the identical person
who was Liberated and set free as aforesaid  I hereby
