his said application and hereby certify that he is five feet ten inches high or
thereabouts says she is twenty five years of age of a dark brown complexion
was born and raised in Caroline County and has a small scar on the inside
of his right leg cut by an axe and no other notable mark or scar that I have
discovered   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the
(seal)   public seal of my office this 29th day of November Anno Domini

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  Whereas heretofore to wit on
the Twenty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and twenty five Joseph Richardson of Caroline County by Deed
of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the land
record Books of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain
molatto man named James Truxon to be free and at perfect liberty
from and after the date of the said manumission  And the said molatto
man named James Truxon having made application to me for a certificate
of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and
provided.  And whereas also by my own personal knowledge that the
same molatto man named James Truxon is the same person mentioned
in the said manumission  I do therefore grant his said application &
hereby Certify that he is five feet nine & a half inches high or thereabouts
he is about fifty four years of age was born and raised in Caroline
County and has a small scar near the outer corner of his right eye
another small scar on the right side of his upper lip and his right
fore finger crooked in the first joint caused by a cut & no other
notable mark or scar that I have discovered
                In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name
(Seal)       affix the public seal of my office this 17th day of
December Anno Domini 1825
