State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  Whereas heretofore to wit; on
the sixteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eleven Daniel Anthony of Caroline County by deed of manumission
duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the land records of Caroline
County aforesaid did manumit and set free a certain negro woman
named Rhoda to be free and at liberty from the date of the said manumission
And the said negro woman named Rhoda having made application
to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the Act of
Assembly in such case made and provided; And whereas also upon the oath
of William Alls of Caroline County that the said negro woman Rhoda
^for whom this certificate is made^ is the same person mentioned in the said manumission I do therefore
grant her said request and Hereby Certify that from the age as
expressed in the said manumission she will be forty nine years of
age on the sixteenth day of the present month (February 1826) she is
five feet and three quarters of an inch high or thereabouts of nearly
a black complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and
has a large scar on the under part of her right arm caused as she says
by a cancer and another scar of a cut on her left wrist and no other
notable mark or scar that I have discovered
            In testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the
(Seal)   public seal of my office this 13th day of February Anno Domini

September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety eight Henry Nicols
of Caroline county by Deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the
land records of Caroline county did manumit & set free a certain negro woman named Mintah
to be free and at Liberty when she should arrive at the age of Twenty Eight years and the
said negro woman named Mintah having made application to me for a certificate of her
freedom agreeably to the Act of assembly in such case made and provided: And whereas also
upon the testimony of the said Henry Nicols that the said negro woman named mintah
is the same person mentioned in the said manumission:  I do therefore grant her said
application and hereby certify that she is forty two years of age or thereabouts about
five feet two and an half inches high of a dark brown complexion was born and
raised in Caroline County and has a long shin scar caused by the scrath of a pin
on the thick part of her left arm just below the elbow joint and another small
