178 his age as expressed in the said manumission he is now about the age of forty eight he is about five feet seven and a half inches high of a light brown complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar on the under part of his right arm near his elbow and a nother scar on his left leg a little below the knee and some other small scars & marks on his legs not worth discribing In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the public seal of my office this 25th day of June Anno Domini 1825 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline (seal) county Court Cost 50 Cts State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a molatto woman named Ann Wisher for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a Certificate of being free born. And whereas also upon the Oath of Mary Cecil of Caroline County that the said molatto woman named Ann Wisher for whom this Certificate is made was free born. I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that she is Twenty two years of age or thereabouts about five feet one & a half inches high of a molatto complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a small scar of a cut in the outer corner of her left eye brow and no other notable mark or scar that I have discovered In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of (seal) my office this 5th day of July Anno Domini 1825 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court cost 50 Cts State of Maryland Caroline County to wit: Whereas heretofore to wit: on the Tenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four a certain John Carter of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the land records of Caroline County did manumit & set free a certain negro woman named Sarah to be free and at perfect liberty from and after the date of the said manumission |
