whereas also upon the Oath of John Orrell of Caroline County that the said
coloured man named Matthew Nash for whom this certificate is made
was free born.  I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify
that he is twenty six years of age or thereabouts he is about five feet
seven and a quarter inches high of a black complexion was born and raised
in Caroline and has a small scar of a Cut on the joint next the wrist
of his left thumb both his feet turned out by rheumatic pains which
cause him to walk taly and no other mark or scar that I have
observed.      In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name
             & affix the public seal of my office this 21st day of may

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  Whereas application hath been
made to me by a coloured man named Henry Wright for a Certificate of his
freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided
by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out
of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born.  And
whereas also upon the Oath of nancy Kirkman of Caroline County
that the said Coloured man named Henry Wright for whom this
Certificate is made was free born.  I do therefore grant his said
application and hereby certify that he is twenty years of age or thereabouts
he is about five feet seven inches high of a dark brown complexion
was born and raised in Caroline County and has a mark on his
right shoulder nearly white a scar on his right hand near his left
wrist opposite his fore finger and two other scars on the same hand
near the middle knuckles and also another scar on the back
part of his head caused as he says by a blow from a Grubbing hoe
an no other notable scar or mark that I have discovered
             In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the
(seal)     public seal of my office this 28th day of may A D 1825
