feet nine inches high of a black complexion was born in Dorchester County and
raised in Caroline County and has a scar across the first joint of the finger next
to the little finger of his left hand cut as he says with a reep hook a small
scar caused as he says by the bite of a hog on the last joint of his right thumb
and a large scar of a cut by an axe on the right great toe and no other notable
mark or scar that I have discovered      In Testimony whereof I hereto
          subscribe my name & affix the public seal of my office this 11th day

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  Whereas heretofore to wit on
the seventh day of March in the year seventeen hundred & ninety one
Richard Loockerman of Caroline County by Deed of Manumission
duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the Land records
of Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro woman
named Nancy to be free in the year seventeen hundred & ninety five
And the said negro woman named Nancy (now calling herself
Nancy Palmer) having made application to me for a Certificate of
her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and
provided.  And whereas also upon the Oath of Jonathan Conner of Caroline
County that the said negro woman named Nancy is the
same person mentioned in the said manumission I do therefore
grant her said application and hereby certify that she is ^was^ sixty two years
of age the 7th day of March last or thereabouts she is about five feet
one and a quarter inches high of a dark brown complexion was
born and raised in Caroline County and has a black mole on
her forehead nearly over the inside corner of her left eye a small
scar on her left cheek bone and a large scar on the left arm
above the elbow and no other notable mark or scar that I
have discovered         In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe
             my name & affix the public seal of my office this
(seal)    21st day of May Anno Domini 1825

    State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  whereas application hath
been made to me by a coloured man named matthew Nash for a certificate
of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such made &
provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel
out of this state upon the obtention of a Certificate of being free born.  And
