In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 29th day of October Anno Domini 1824 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline county to wit; Whereas heretofore to wit; on the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine a certain Sarah Hardcastle and Solomon Kenton of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the land records of Caroline county did manumit and set free a certain negro woman named Ebbi to be free and at perfect liberty on the first day of January eighteen hundred and nine and the said negro woman named Ebbi having made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided And whereas also on the oath of Jabez Caldwell of Caroline county that the said negro woman named Ebbi for whom this Certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission. I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that she is forty four years of age or thereabouts she is about five feet one and a half inches hugh of a dark molatto complexion was born and raised in Talbot County and has a large scar of a burn on the back of her right hand and no other mark or scar that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the public seal (seal) of my office this 29th day of October Anno Domini 1824 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; whereas application hath been made to me by a coloured woman named Ann Groce for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a Certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the Oath of John C. Talbott of Caroline County that the said coloured woman named Ann Groce for whom this Certificate is made was free born. I do therefore grant her said application & hereby Certify that she is four feet ten & three quarter inches high or thereabouts she is about Eighteen years of age was born and raised in Caroline County of a complexion nearly black and has a small mark nearly perpendicular between her eye brows & no other mark or scar that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name & affix the (seal) public seal of my office this 11th day of November Anno Domini 1824 Jo Richardson Clk Cost 50 Cts of Caroline County Court |
