State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;  Whereas application hath been made
to me by a coloured woman named Lucy Jolly for a certificate of her freedom agreeably
to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes
and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate
of being free born and whereas also upon the Oath ^testimony^ of Elijah Satterfield      of
Caroline County that the said coloured woman named Lucy Jolly for whom this
Certificate is made was free born.  I do therefore grant her said application and
hereby certify that she is five feet three and a quarter inches high ^or thereabouts^ says she was twenty
one years of age in May last was born and raised in Caroline County of a Brown
Complexion has a small scar of a cut on the outside corner of her right eye and
no other mark or scar that I have observed         In Testimony whereof I
                hereto subscribe my name & affix the public seal of my office this 26th day

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit;   Whereas on the fourteenth
day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six a
certain Betsy Banning Hicks of Caroline County by deed of manumission
duly executed and acknowledged and recorded among the land records of
Caroline County did manumit and set free a certain negro woman named
Aimy to be free from the date of the said manumission   And the said negro woman
named Aimy having made application to me for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably
to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided.  And whereas
also upon the Oath of Henrietta Brown of Caroline County that the said negro
woman named Aimy for whom this Certificate is made is the same person
mentioned in the said manumission.  I do therefore grant her said application
and hereby Certify that the said negro woman named Aimy is forty three years
of age or thereabouts she is about five feet one and a half inches high of a
complexion nearly black was born & raised in Caroline County has three
small scars on the upper part of her left wrist joint and on the joint
of her thumb next the wrist joint and no other mark or scar that
I have observed
