Caroline County Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1806-1827

on the 30 day of June 1807 a copy of the following was
delivered to negro Dick

    The State of maryland Caroline County to wit
Whereas negro Dick was manumitted by Jacob
Loockerman of said County on the 1 day of January
1793 to be free on the date of said manumission
and whereas the said Dick made application to
me for a Certificate of his freedom and from the
Oath of mr Edward O Clark that he is the
indentical person named in said manumission
I Certify that the afd negro is about 44 years old
5 feet 7½ Inches high Dark complexion was
raised in ^said^ County has a scar on his left fore
finger and he says his left great toe was broke
and has no other marks   In Testimony
whereof I hereto set my hand and the public seal
of my office the 30 June 1807   Tho Richardson Clk


Caroline County to wit  On the 30th day of June 1807 was
delivered to negro Eve the Certificate of which the following
is a Correct registry  Viz.t

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit   Whereas
a Certain negro woman called Eve heretofore to wit on the
7th day of March 1791 was manumitted by M.r Richard
Loockerman of Caroline County to be free January 1850
as by said manumission remaining of record in Caroline
County reference being thereto had will appear;  And whereas
the said negro woman called Eve hath made application
to me for a Certificate of her freedom agreeable to act of Assembly
