134 manumission I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that the said negro woman Tilly is five feet one inch & a half inch high or thereabouts and from the age expressed in the said deed of manumission she will be twenty six years of age on the fourth day of January in the year eighteen hundred and twenty her complexion is molatto she was born and raised in Caroline county aforesaid and has no notable mark or scar that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix (seal) the public seal of my office this 3.d day of September Anno Domini 1819 Jo Richardson Clerk of Caroline county court State of Maryland Caroline county to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a molatto man named Cato Casson for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to an act of the general Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session Eighteen hundred and five by which said Act free negroes & Molattoes are permitted to travel out of this State upon their obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the Oath of Matthew Driver of Caroline county aforesaid that the said Molatto man named Cato Casson for whom this certificate is made was free born. I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that he is five feet five inches high or thereabouts says he ^will be^ twenty four years of age in March in the year eighteen hundred and twenty of a molatto complexion was born and raised in Caroline county and has not any notable mark or scar that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and (seal) affix the public seal of my office this 18th day of October Anno Domini 1819 Jo Richardson Clerk of Caroline county court |
