State of Maryland Caroline county to wit; Whereas on the second
day of June in the year eighteen hundred and two Charles Blair
of Caroline county by deed of manumission duly recorded acknowledged
and record amongst the records of Caroline county did manumit & set
free a certain negro boy named Isaac to be free on the first
day of January eighteen hundred and twenty.  And whereas the said
negro boy named Isaac now a man (calling himself Isaac
Sullivane) hath made application to me for a certificate of
his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case
made & provided and being satisfied by the oath of Doctor Robert
Stevens of the county aforesaid that the said negro man
named Isaac for whom this certificate is made is the same
person mentioned in the said manumission.  I do therefore grant
his said application and hereby certify that from the age
expressed in the said manumission the said Isaac was born
twenty four years of age or thereabouts on the second day
of June last past he is about five feet four & a half Inches
high of a dark brown complexion was born in Caroline &
raised in Talbot county has a large scar on his forehead
which he says was caused by the kick of a horse and no
other particular mark or scar that I have discovered
            In testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name
(seal)    & affix the seal of my office this first day of January
            Anno Domini 1820               Jo Richardson Clerk of
                                                       Caroline county court

Sullivane) hath made application to me for a certificate of
his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made
and provided and being satisfied by the Oath of Doctor Robert
Stevens of the county aforesaid that the said negro man named
Daniel for whom this certificate is made is the Identical person
