132 molatto man named Philip Dickinson for whom this certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that he is five feet seven inches high or thereabouts was raised in Caroline County says he is twenty two years of age the twelfth day of June eighteen hundred and nineteen his complexion is of a dark molatto the end joints of the two toes next to the little toe on his left foot off a small scar on the out side of his left knee and a large scar on the left leg all occasioned as he says by a burn in his childhood and has no other notable mark or scar that I have observed In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand (seal) and the public seal of my office affixed this 8th day of June Anno Domini 1819 Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas on the tenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen Joseph Talbott of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a negro man named Andrew to be free from the date of said manumission as it appears of record And whereas the said Andrew has made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and I being satisfied by the oath of Samuel Talbott of the County aforesaid that the said negro man named Andrew for whom this certificate is made is the identical person mentioned in said manumission I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that he is five feet four and three quarter inches high or thereabouts about twenty eight years of age born and raised in Caroline County has a small scar on his left wrist which he says was occasioned by being bit by his adversary in a fight and has no other notable mark or scar that I have discovered.
