       In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
          the public seal of my office affixed this twelfth day of
               May Anno Domini eighteen hundred and nineteen

The State of Maryland Caroline County to wit, Whereas heretofore to
wit on the eighth day of July in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred
and five Thomas Orem by deed of manumission duly executed
acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of said County did manumit
and set free a negro woman named Esther to be free and at perfect
liberty from and after the first day of January eighteen hundred
and eighteen and whereas the said negro woman named Esther
hath made application to me for a certificate of her freedom
agreeably to an act of assembly in such case made and provided
and being satisfied by the oath of William Slaughter of said
County that the said negro woman named Esther for whom this
certificate is made is the person mentioned in the manumission afs.d
she is five feet three and three quarter inches high or thereabouts
and twenty seven years of age or thereabouts born and raised in
Caroline County her complexion is nearly black she is almost
blind in the right eye the ball of which is of a bluish ^white^ color
and no other notable mark or scar that I have observed
In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and the

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas application
hath been made to me by a negro woman named Hannah Parmore
for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to an act of the
General Assembly of Maryland passed at November session
Eighteen hundred and five by which said act free negroes and
molattoes are permitted to travel out of this State upon their
obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas also
upon the oath of M.rs Celia Craner of the County aforesaid
that the said negro woman Hannah Parmore for whom this
certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant her
said application and hereby Certify that she is five feet
