named Easter to be free from the date of the said manumission as it appears of
record and whereas the said negro woman Easter has made application to me
for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such Case
made and provided and being satisfied by the oath of Philemon Spenser of
the County afs.d that the said negro woman named Easter for whom this
certificate is made is the identical person mentioned in said manumission
I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that she is five
feet three and an half inches high or thereabouts forty five years of age or
thereabouts of a dark brown complexion has a large lump something like
a wen over her right eye was born in Talbot County & raised in Caroline
county and has no other notable mark that I have observed.  In testimony
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and the public seal of my office affixed
(seal)                     this 22d day of March Anno Domini 1819

Maryland Caroline County to wit  whereas heretofore to wit on the
fifth day of April Eighteen hundred and five Thomas Roe Lee of
Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged
and recorded amongst the records of Caroline County did manumit
and set free a certain negro girl called Henny to be free and at
liberty when she sould arrive at the age of twenty five years which
(from the age expressed in the manumission) she arrived to in the
month of July in the year eighteen hundred and eighteen and
whereas the same negro girl now a woman called Henny hath made
application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the
act of assembly in such case made and provided and I being
satisfied by the oath of Philemon Spencer that the said negro girl
(now a woman) for whom this certificate is made is the identical person
mentioned in the said manumission I do therefore grant her said application
and hereby certify that the said negro woman Henny is five feet
two and one quarter inches high or thereabouts her complexion nearly
black the end of the finger next to the little finger on the right hand
marked off was born & raised in Caroline County and no other notable
mark that I have observed.  In testimony whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and affixed the public seal of my office this 22d day of March
