117 of Joseph Anthony of Caroline County aforesaid that the said Molatto boy William Trusty for whom this certificate is made was free born; I do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify that he is four feet two inches high or thereabouts was seven years of age the twenty fifth day of September Eighteen hundred and seventeen of a molatto complexion was born in Caroline County and has no notable marks or scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and (Seal) affixed the public seal of my office this 27.th day of July Anno Domini 1818 Jo Richardson Clerk of Caroline County court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas application hath been made to me by a molatto boy named Se Witt Clinton Trusty for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to an act of the General assembly of maryland passed at November Session eighteen hundred and five by which said act free negroes & molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon their obtention of a certificate of being free born. And whereas also upon the affirmation of Joseph Anthony of Caroline County aforesaid that the said ^To Joseph Richardson Esquire Clerk of Caroline County Court I the Undersigned a free negro of Caroline County wishing to visit the City of Philadelphia for the purpose of working &.c By an act of Assembly of this State it is necessary my intention of leaving this State should be made known to you it is my intention to return here again within five months from this date Given under my hand this 4.th day of November Anno Domini 1839 Test her Josiah Jump Minta + Rine mark^ (Seale) hand and affixed the public seal of my office this 27th day of July Anno Domini 1818 Jo Richardson Clerk of Caroline County Court |
