107 Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas application has been made to me by a Black man named Cato Pendleton for a certificate of his agreeably to an act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November session Eighteen hundred and four by which said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this State upon their obtention of a Certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the Oath of James Harrisson of Caroline County that the said negro man named Cato Pendleton for whom this certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that he is five feet eleven inches high or thereabouts was raised in Caroline County says he is going in his one and twenty years of age has a scar on each side of the back part of his head is very dark and rather spare and no other notable marks that I have discovered In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand (seal) and affixed the public seal of my Office this twenty fourth day of April anno Dimini Eighteen hundred and Eighteen Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro man named John Hynson for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to an act of assembly of the said State passed at November session Eighteen hundred and five by which said act free negroes & molattoes are permitted to travel out of the said State upon their |
