106 has come to my view The said negro Levin was born & raised in Caroline County & is a straight well made & rather a handsome negro In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my (Seal) hand and the public seal of my office affixed this 6.th day of April 1818 Jo Richardson Clerk of Caroline County court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas heretofore to wit on the twentieth day of may in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred & nine a certain Henrietta Glover of Caroline County aforesaid by deed of Manumission duly executed and recorded did manumit and set free a certain negro woman called Nanna to be free and at liberty from and after the day and year aforesaid And whereas the same negro woman Nanna has made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and I being satisfied from the Oath of Mary Sylvester that the said negro Nanna for whom this Certificate is made is the identical negro nanna mentioned in the said manumission do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that the said negro Nanna from the age specified in the manumission is fifty three years next month is five feet three Inches high or thereabouts black complexion and almost toothless And no other notable mark which has come to my view In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and the public seal (seal) of my Office affixed this 10th day of April 1818 Jo Richardson Clerk of Caroline County Court |
