100 (seal) In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the public seal of my office this first day of July anno Domini 1817 Jo Richardson Clk Caroline County Court Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas on the twenty second day of the seventh month one thousand seven hundred and ninety six Ann Harrington by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded amongst the records of Caroline County did manumit and set free a negro boy named Peter to be free on the first day of the first month anno Domini Eighteen hundred and seventeen. And whereas the said Peter has made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and I being satisfied by the oath of John Carter Esquire of the County aforesaid that the said negro man named Peter for whom this certificate is made is the Identical person mentioned in said manumission. I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that he is five feet two inches and half an inch high or thereabout was raised in Caroline County is of a dark complexion there is no age expressed in the manumission supposed to be twenty four or twenty five years old tolerably well built and has no very notable marks that I have discovered (seal) In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the public seal of my office this twenty ninth day of August Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and seventeen Jo Richardson Clk Caroline County Court |
