           In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Subscribe my name
(Seal)  and the Seal of my office affixed this Second day of August
           Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and fifty nine
                                                           Robert J. Jump Clerk of the
                                                  Circuit Court for Caroline County


State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas Noah Williams
hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably
to law   and whereas on the affirmation of Samuel
Dunning has been proven that the said Noah Williams
was free born.  I do therefore grant this certificate  He is now
thirty six years of age or thereabouts five feet seven & one half
inches high or thereabout of a chesnutt Complexion was raised in
Caroline County and has a large scar on the first finger of
the right hand caused by the cut of an ax & has one other scar
on the forehed and has no other notable marke or scar that
I have observed
                         In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
(seal)                 my name and affix the seal of the
                         Circuit Court for Caroline County this Eighth
                         day of august Anno Domini Eighteen
                         hundred and fifty nine
