Caroline County Circuit Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1857-1864

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:   Whereas Adaline Groce hath
made application to me for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to law And
whereas the oath of Jonathan F. Noble hath been proven that said
Adaline Groce hath was free born.  I do therefore grant this Certificate.  She
is now about thirty one years of age five feet four and three Quarters inches
high or thereabouts of a dark Chesnutt Complexion was born and raised
in Caroline County and has no notable marks or scars that I have
observed      In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name
(Seal)   and affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County
    this twenty third day of June Anno Domini Eighteen Hundred
    and sixty

    State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:   Whereas Jesse Black
hath made application to me for a Certificate of his freedom agreeably to law:
and whereas on the Oath of William M. A. Liden hath been proven that
said Jesse Black was free born.  I do therefore grant this Certificate
He is now about twenty Seven Years of age five feet eight inches
      high or thereabouts of a black Complexion was born and raised
in Caroline County & State aforesaid & has no notable marks or scars
that I have observed.      In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe
my name and affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline
(seal)   County this 26th day of June Anno Domini Eighteen Hundred
& Sixty
