            In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Subscribe my name
(Seal)   and the Seal of my office affixed this Second day of August
            Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and fifty nine
                                                                Robert J Jump Clerk of the
                                                       Circuit Court for Caroline County


State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas Noah Williams
hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to law  
and whereas on the affirmation of Samuel
Dunning has been proven that the said Noah Williams
was free born.  I do therefore grant this certificate.  He is now
thirty six years of age or thereabout five feet seven & one half
inches high or thereabout of a chesnutt Complexion was raised in
Caroline County and has a large scar on the first finger of
the right hand caused by the cut of an ax & has one other scar
on the forehead and has no other notable marke or scar that
I have observed
                            In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
(seal)                    my name and affix the seal of the
                            Circuit Court for Caroline County this Eighth
                            day of august Anno Domini Eighteen
                            hundred and fifty nine
