39 assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes and mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born and wheras also upon the oath of Abraham Griffith of Caroline county that the said coloured man named Aaron Johnson for whom this certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that according to his own account he was about twenty two years of age in June last five feet seven and a quarter inches high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline county of a Black complexion has a small scar of a cut on the right side of his forehead in the border or edge of the wool and a mole on the right hand just above the hand joint of the thumb and on the border of the whitish part of his hand and no other ^notable^ marks or scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the (seal) public seal of my office this 14th day of August Anno Domini 1830 Cost $1.00 cts Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline county to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a coloured woman named Luvice Black for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made & provided by which said act free negroes & mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the condition of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the oath of Elijah Williamson of Caroline county that the said coloured woman Luvice Black for whom this certificate is made was free born; I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that according to her own account she is about twenty five years of age five feet three & a quarter inches high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline county of a Brown mulatto complexion has a small scar of cut at the outer end of her right eye brown her little finger deformed by a burn and made crooked and no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 18th day of August Anno Domini 1830 Cost $1.00 Cts Jo Richardson Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline county to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a coloured man named Wesly Johnson ^for a certificate of his freedom^ agreeably to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided by which said act free negroes and mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born and |
