To Joseph Richardson Esq.r Clerk of Caroline County Court
                                                                                             Sir, We the undersigned
free negroe's of Caroline County wishing to visit the City of Philadelphia for
the purpose of seeing our relations &c   By an act of Assembly of this state it is
necessary our intentions should be made known to you   It is our intentions
to return to this County again some time within three years from this date   Given
under our hands this 16th day of October 1837
