To Joseph Richardson Clerk of Caroline County Court
                                                 The undersigned a free negro of Caroline County
wishing to visit Wilmington Delaware for the purpose working    By an act of
this State it is necessary my intention of leaving this state should be made known
to you   It is my intention to return here again within three months from this date
                      Given under my hand this 21.st day of August 1837
