To Jo.s Richardson Clerk of Caroline County Court
                                                                              The undersigned a free negroe of Caroline
County wishing to visit the City of Philadelphia for the purpose of seeing her friends
and relations.    By an act of this state it is necessary my intention of leaving
should be made known to you   It is my intention to return to this County
again within two months from this date.  Given under my hand this
7th day of June 1838                                                     her
