    To Joseph Richardson Esquire Clerk of Caroline County Court:
                The Undersigned a free negro of Caroline County wishing to visit Wilmington
Delaware for the purpose of working &c  By an act of Assembly of this State it is necessary
my intention of leaving this State should be known to you; it is my intention to
return here again within six months from this date
    Given under my hand this 19th day of December Anno Domini 1837
