certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission
I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from
his age as expressed in the said manumission he was thirty eight
years of age the tenth day of February last five feet seven and a quarter
inches high or thereabouts was born in Talbot and raised in Caroline
County of a bright mulatto complexion and has curly black hair has
a small scar of a cut across the hand joint of his left thumb and
another scar across the fleshy part of the hand between the left thumb
and fore finger and another small scar nearly over the inner joint of
his left hand and another scar across across the inside of the end
of his right finger near to the little finger and ^no^ another notable marks
or scars that I have observed
(seal)   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public
           seal of my office this 30th day of April anno Domini 1830

State of Maryland Caroline County Court to wit;  whereas heretofore to wit on the second day of
June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and two a certain Charles Blair by deed
of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the Land records of
Caroline county and manumit and set free a certain negro man named Adam otherwise
called Little Adam and now calling himself Adam Adams to be free born and after the
first day of January eighteen hundred and six and the said negro man named Adam
otherwise called Little Adam and now calling himself Adam Adams having made
application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in
such case made and provided and whereas also upon the Testimony of Doctor John
Stevens of Talbot County that the said negro man named Adam otherwise called
Little Adam and now calling himself Adam Adams for whom this certificate is made
is the same person mentioned in the said manumission I do therefore grant his said
application and hereby certify ^that^ from his age as expressed in the said manumission
he will be fifty years of age the second day of June next five feet four and a half
inches high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline County of a dar mulatto
complexion has a small scar of a cut crosswise and a little above the hand joint
of his left fore finger and no other no other marks or scars that I have observed
