and has scars near the right Corner of right eye left
corner of left eye & on left 1st finger that no other
notable marks or scars that I have observed
             In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
             my name & affix the seal of the
             Circuit Court for Caroline County
             this 22 July A D 1856

Caroline County to wit:   Whereas Hester Jane Ridgaway hath
made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeable
to law and whereas on the oath of Martin Robinson has been
proven that Said Hester Jane Ridgaway was free born.  I do
therefore grant this certificate she is now about fifteen years
of age five feet one & a half inches high or thereabout of a black
complexion was born & raised in Caroline County and has no
scars that I have discribed
                   In testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe my
(Seal)          name & affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for
                   Caroline County this 15th day of September A D
                   1856

Caroline County to wit  Whereas Eva Ann Ridgaway
hath made application to me for a certificate of her freedom
agreeably to law; and wheras on the oath of Martin
Robinson has been proven that said Eva Ann Ridgaway
was free born   I do therefore grant this certificate she
is now about 16 years of age 4 feet 9 inches high or thereabout
of a black complexion was born & raised in Caroline County
and has a large scar on the back of her right hand caused
by a Rizor and one other scar on the neck caused by a
burn & has no other notable marke or scar that I have
observed
                   In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my
(Seal)          name and affix the seal of the Circuit Court
                   for Caroline County this 15th day of September
                   A D 1856
