283 caused by a burn and has no other Notable marks or scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name and affix this seal (Seal) of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this 23.d day of August Anno Domini 1852 Thomas F. Garey Clk State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas application hath been made to me by negro woman Rhoda Din for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to Law and whereas upon the Oath of William J Pratt of said County has been proven that said woman was born free I do Therefore grant her this Certificate She is about 27 Years of age 5 feet 4¾ inches high of dark chesnut Complexion with no notable scars In testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and (seal) affix the seal of Circuit Court for Caroline County this 20th Novemb 1852 Tho F. Garey Clk State of Maryland Caroline County to wit: Whereas heretofore to wit on the 29th day of March 1825 a certain George A Smith did manumit and set free a certain negro girl named Emma to be free on the 1.st of January 1850. And whereas application hath been made to me by a mullato woman calling herself Emma Lucas for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided: And whereas on the Oath of Owen C Jones the she is the same one mentioned in said Manumission I do therefore grant her this Certificate She is about 30 years of age five feet Two inches high or thereabouts of a bright mullatto Complexion with no notable scars In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal of the Circuit (seal) Court for Caroline County this 2d day of November A D 1852 Thomas F Garey Clk |
