Caroline County, Certificates of Freedom, 1827-1857

       State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:
       Whereas application hath been made to me
by negro woman Rhoda Din ^Caroline Stubbs^ for a certificate of her
freedom agreeably to law and whereas upon the other of
William J Pratt Henry P. Barwick of said County has been
proven that the said woman was born free   I do therefore
grant her this Certificate   She is about 25 years of age
5 feet 2½ inches high of a Chesnutt complexion
with no notable scars
                      In Testimony whereof I hereto set
                      my hand and affix the seal of
    (seal)          Circuit Court for Caroline County
                      this 21 12th day of December A. D. 1852

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit   Whereas
Application hath been made to me by a negro boy
William Homes for a certificate of his freedom
agreeably to Law and whereas upon the oath of
John Malcomb has been proven that said boy was
born free   I do therefore grant him this Certificate
he is about 23 years of age 5 feet 5½ inches high
of a black Complexion with no notable scars
                In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
                my name and affix the seal of the Circuit
(seal)        Court for Caroline County this 28th day
                of December Anno Domini 1852

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:   Whereas application hath
been made to me by a negro man named William H Friend
for a Certificate of his freedom agreeably to Law and whereas
upon the Oath of John Dean of Tho.s has been proven that said
boy was born free   I do therefore grant him this Certificate
he to free   He is about 24 years of age 5 feet 8¾ inches high of a
Chesnut Complexion with some slight scars near root of thumb
on left hand
                            In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and

                           this 8.th day of Jan.y 1853
