State of Maryland Caroline County to wit
                         Whereas application hath been made for to
me by a negro man named Anthony Hacket free born for
a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly
in such case made and provide by which said acts free negroes
and mullatoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon
the obtention of a certificate of being free born.  And whereas
also upon the oath of Thomas Roe of P. of Caroline County aforesaid
that the said negro man named Anthony Hackett for whom
this certificate is made is free born.   I do therefore grant
his said application and hereby certify that from his own
account he is now about twenty seven years of age five
feet four and a half inches high or thereabouts of a black
complexion was born and raised in Caroline County
aforesaid & has a large scar on his breast the left arm
just above the elbow and has a small one on the back
of the right hand and has no other notable marks or scars
that I have observed
                                  In Testimony whereof I hereunto
                                  subscribe my name and affix the
(Seal)                         seal of Caroline County Court
                                  this 26.th day of July 1850

for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the
acts of Assembly in such case made and provided
by which said acts free negroes and mullatoes
are permitted to travel out of this state upon the
obtention of a certificate of being free born
and whereas also upon the oath of Wm H Chilton
of Caroline County that the said negro
woman named Mary E Loockerman for whom
this certificate is made was free born   I do
therefore grant her said application and
hereby certify that from her own account she
is now about seventeen years of age four
feet Eleven & a half inches high or thereabouts of
a Chesnutt Complexion was born and
raised in Caroline County aforesaid and
has a large scar on the ^her^ left cheek and has no
other notable marks and scars that I
have observed            In Testimony whereof
