State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas heretofore to wit
on the twelfth day of January Eighteen hundred and five a certain Samuel Talbott
of Caroline County by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded
among the land records of said County did (among others) manumit and set free a
negro girl named Suckey to be free when at twenty five years of age and
her issue to be free at the age of twenty five years; And now on application
of mulattoe woman named Mary the issue of the said Suckey for a
certificate of her freedom agreeably to the Acts of Assembly in such case made
and provided  And also upon the Oath of John C Talbott of Caroline County
aforesaid that the said mulattoe woman named Mary for whom
this certificate is made is the issue of the aforesaid Suckey and is
now free I do therefore grant her said application and hereby
certify that she is now about thirty years of age four feet eleven
inches high or thereabouts of a dark mulattoe complexion
was born and raised in Caroline County aforesaid and has no notable
marks or scars that I have observed   In Testimony whereof I
hereto subscribe my name and affix the seal of Caroline County
Court this twentieth day of July Eighteen hundred and fifty

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit  Whereas application hath
been made to me by a mulattoe woman named Susan for a certificate
of her freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such case
made and provided by which said acts free negroes and mulattoe's
are permitted to travel out of this State upon the obtention of a certificate
of being free born; And Whereas also upon the oath of John
C Talbott of Caroline County afsd that the said negro woman
named Susan for whom this Certificate is made was free
born; I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify
that from her own account she is now about twenty three years
of age five feet two inches high or thereabouts of a dark mullatto
Complexion was born and raised in Caroline County aforesaid and
has a scar of a cut or scratch on the inside of the right arm and
near the elbow joint and has no other notable marks or scars that
I have observed   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my
my name and affix the seal of Caroline County Court this twentieth
day of July Eighteen hundred and fifty
