And whereas also upon the oath of John R
Willis of Caroline County aforesaid that the said
negro woman named Delia Ann Webb for
whom this certificate is made was free born
I do therefore grant her said application
and hereby certify that from her own account
she is now about seventeen years of age five
feet three inches high or thereabouts of a dark
chesnutt complexion was born and raised
in Caroline County aforesaid and has a
large scar on her left cheek and a small
one on her right arm below the elbow and
has no other notable marks or scars that
I have observed   In Testimony whereof
                  I hereto subscribe my name &
(seal)          affix the seal of Caroline
                  County Court this 7.th day of
                  December 1849

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit whereas application hath
been made to me by a negro woman named Mary Webb for a certificate of her
freedom agreeably to the acts of assembly in such case made & provided by which said
acts free negroes & mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention
of a certificate of being free born  And whereas also upon the oath of John R Willis of the County
aforesaid that the said negro woman named Mary Webb for whom this certificate
is made was free born  I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify
that from her own account she is now about twenty six years of age five feet three
and one half inches high or thereabouts of a chesnutt complexion was born and raised
in Caroline County aforesaid and has a flesh mark or mole just b^e^low
the right ear and another small one in the palm of the left
hand and has no other notable marks or scars that I
