256 have observed In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed the seal (Seal) of Caroline County Court this 10th day of December 1849 James H Fountain clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas heretofore to wit on the day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty one a certain Aaron Baynard of the County and state aforesaid by deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the land records of Caroline County aforesaid did manumit and set free a certain negro boy named Aaron Baynard to be from and after the date of the aforesaid manumission and whereas the said negro Aaron Baynard is now a man & has made application to me for a certificate of his freedom according to the acts of assembly in such case made and provided and whereas also upon the oath of Thomas Roe senr of Caroline County afsd that the said negro man Aaron Baynard for whom this certificate is made is the same person mentioned in the said deed of manumission I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from his age as expressed in the said manumission he is now about thirty one years of age five feet six Inches high or thereabouts of a dark mulatto complexion was born and raised in caroline county afsd and has a small scar on the arm near the shoulder blade an other on the left leg across the shin bone and an other on the knee of the same leg all occasioned by cuts and has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the seal of (Seal) Caroline County Court this 4th day of January A D 1850 James H Fountain clk of Caroline County Court |
