240 named Elizabeth Ann Loockerman for whom this Certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that from her own account she is now about twenty one years of age five feet two & a half inches high or thereabouts born and raised in Caroline County of Black Complexion and has a small flesh mole on his upper lip and has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed. In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name and (Seal) affix the seal of Caroline County Court this 11th day of September A. D. 1848 James H. Fountain Clk of Caroline County Court Caroline County to wit whereas application hath been made to me by a negro man named Boon Murry for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such case made and provided by which said acts free negroes and mulatto's are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born And whereas also upon the oath of James Swann of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro man named Boon Murry for whom this Certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify that from his own account he is now about twenty two years of age five feet nine and a half inches high or thereabouts of a black ^chesnutt^ Complexion was born and raised in Caroline County aforesaid and has a light colored mark on the left temple and a small scar of a cut on the left thumb and has no other notable marks and scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe (Seal) my name and affix the seal of Caroline County Court this 13th day of September A.
