State of Maryland  Caroline county to wit      Whereas
application hath been made to me by a negro woman
named Rebecca Loockerman for a certificate of her freedom
agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such case made and provided
by which said Acts of Assembly free negroes and mulattoes
are permitted to travell out of this state upon the obtention
of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the
oath of William F. Chilton of caroline County that the said
negro woman named Rebecca Loockerman for whom this
Certificate is made was free born I do therefore grant her said
application and hereby certify that from her own account
she is now about seventeen years of age four feet ten &
one half inches high or thereabouts of a chesnutt complexion
was born and raised in Caroline County and has
a small black mole on her upper lip and has no other
notable marks or scars that I have observed.   In Testimony
                      whereof I hereto subscribe my name and
(seal)              affix the seal of Caroline County Court
                      this 20.th day of June A. D. 1848

State of Maryland Caroline county to wit.  Whereas heretofore
to wit on the fourteenth day of October eighteen hundred and
forty four a certain Marcelllus E Keene then of Caroline County
aforesaid by deed of Manumission duly executed acknowledged
and recorded among the Land Records of Caroline County did
among others manumit and set free a certain negro man
called London Winchester to be free on the first day of January
Eighteen hundred and forty five and the said negro man named
London Winchester having made application to me for a certificate of
his freedom agreeably to the acts of assembly in such case made
and provided and whereas also upon the oath of the aforesaid Marcellus
E Keene now of Wilmington in the state of Delaware that
