235 half inches high or thereabouts of a dark Chesnutt Complexion was born and raised in Caroline County aforesaid & has a small scar on the left side of the Neck below her ear and has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed. In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the seal of Caroline County (seal) Court this 9th day of May A. D. 1848 James H. Fountain Clk of Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit, Whereas heretofore to wit on the 17th February 1845 a certain Elizabeth Bell of Caroline County by Bill of sale duly executed acknowledged and recorded among the Land records of Caroline County aforesaid did manumit and set free a certain negro woman called Juliann to be free at the end of the year 1846 and whereas application hath been made to me by a negro woman calling herself Juliann Loockerman for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the acts of assembly in such case made and provided And whereas also upon the oath of Robert C. Ross of Caroline County that the said negro woman named Juliann Loockerman for whom this certificate is made is the same person mentioned in said Bill of sale. I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that from her own account she is now about twenty nine years of age five feet three and one half inches high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline County and of a Black Complexion and has no notable marks or scars that I have observed In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name (seal) and affix the seal of Caroline County Court this Thirtieth day of May Eighteen hundred and forty eight James H.
