State of Maryland Caroline County to wit whereas application
hath been made to me by a negro woman named Julia Ann Satterfield
for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the acts of assembly in such
case made and provided by which said acts free negroes and mulattoes
are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate
of being free born and whereas also upon the oath of John Evitts of
Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro woman named Julia
Ann Satterfield for whom this certificate is made was free born
I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that from
her own account she is now about nineteen years of age five
feet high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline County
aforesaid and of a mulatto complexion and has a small scar
on the thumb of her right hand near the middle joint and
has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed

(Caroline)               name and affix the seal of Caroline County Court

of her freedom agreeably to the acts of assembly in such case made and
provided by which said acts free negroes and mulattoes are permitted to travel
out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born and
whereas also upon the oath of James Turner ^Esqr^ of Queen Anns that the said
negro woman named Eliza Ann Webb for whom this certificate is made
was free born.  I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify
that from her own account she is now about twenty seven years of age
five feet three inches high or thereabouts of a Mulatto Complexion was born
and raised in Caroline County aforesaid has a scar of a cut over the
left eye also a small scar on his left wrist and has no other notable marks
or scars that I have observed      In Testimony whereof I hereunto
( Seal of )       subscribe my name and affix the seal of Caroline County Court
