County of a complexion nearly black has a small scar a little forward of his left
ear and no is other notable marks or scars that I have observed
(seal)   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public
           seal of my office this 11th day of May Anno Domini 1829

State of Maryland  Caroline County to wit; whereas application hath been made to
me by a coloured boy named Ridgaway Wright for a certificate of his freedom agreeably
to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which said act free negroes &
molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon the obtention of a certificate of being
free born and whereas also upon the oath of Emeline Reese of Caroline County that
the said coloured boy named Ridgaway Wright for whom this Certificate is made
was free born I do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify that from his
own account he was Nineteen years of age in March last five feet five and three quarter
inches high or thereabouts of a black complexion was free born and raised in Caroline
County and has a scar of a cut across the middle joint of the toe next to the little toe
on his right foot and no other notable marks or scars that I have observed
(seal)   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal
           of my office this 11th day of May anno Domini 1829

to me by a coloured man named Charles Wright for a certificate of his free born
agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided by which
said act free negroes and molattoes are permitted to travel out of this state upon
the obtention of a certificate of being free born and whereas also upon the oath
of Emeline Reese of Caroline County that the said Coloured man named
Charles Wright for whom this Certificate is made was free born  I do therefore
grant his said application and hereby Certify that from his own account he
will be twenty one years of age in august next five feet eight and three quarter
inches high or thereabouts was born and raised in Caroline County of a complexion
nearly black has a small perpendicular scar of a cut nearly in the
middle of his forehead and no other notable marks or scars that I have
