159 made is the same person mentioned in the said manumission I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that from her age as expressed in the said manumission she was twenty four years of age on the first day of July eighteen hundred and twenty eight five feet two inches high or thereabouts of a dark mulatto Complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar of a cut just under her right eye and has several knots of broken veins on her right leg and just above her knee joint And has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 20.th day of April A. D. 1841 Jo Richardson Clek of Cost $1.00 Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a mulatto girl named Juliann Bryan for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such Case made and provided; by which said acts free negroes and mulattoe's are permitted to travel out of this State upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born; And Whereas also upon the oath of Thomas Turner of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro girl named Juliann Bryan for whom this Certificate is made was free born; I do therefore grant her said application and hereby certify that she is now about seventeen years of age five feet three inches high or thereabouts of a dark mulatto Complexion was born and raised in Caroline County aforesaid and has no notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the Public seal of my office this eighteenth day of May A D 1841 Jo Richardson Clek of Cost $1.00 Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro man named Alfred Groce for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such case made and provided by which said acts free negroes and mulattoe's are permitted to travel out of this State upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born; And Whereas also upon the affirmation of Thomas Stanton of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro man named Alfred Groce for whom |
