158 and several scars on the vein of the same arm occasioned by being being bled and has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this thirtieth day of March A. D. 1841 Jo Richardson Clek of Cost $1.00 cts Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro man named William Taylor for a Certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided; by which said acts free negroes and mulatto's are permitted to travel out of this State upon the obtention of a Certificate of being free born; And whereas also upon the oath of Solomon Glanden of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro man named William Taylor for whom this Certificate is made was free born; I do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify that from his own account he is about thirty four years of age five feet eight inches ^high^ or thereabouts of a black Complexion was born in Queen Anns County and raised in Caroline County and has a scar of a cut over his right eye and has a small scar on his right thumb joint and has a large scar on his right leg occasioned by the bite of a dog. And has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony Whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this thirteenth day of April Anno Domini 1841 Jo Richardson Clek of Cost $1.00 Caroline County Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas heretofore to wit on the ninth day of August eighteen hundred and twenty eight; a Certain Charles Tilden of Caroline County by deed of manumission acknowledged and recorded among the Land records of Caroline County did manumit and set free among others a negro woman named Ritty (now Calling herself Louretta Flamer) to be free from and after the first day of July Eighteen hundred and twenty nine and the said negro woman named Ritty having made application to me for a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided And whereas also upon the oath of James M. Whitly of Caroline County aforesaid that the said negro woman named Ritty for whom this Certificate is |
