dark mulattoe and has a small scar of a cut on her left thumb and two
other small scars of a burn on her breast and has no other notable marks or
scars that I have observed

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath
been made to me by a mulattoe woman named Mary Hughes for a certificate
of her freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such case made and
provided; by which said acts free negroes and mulattoes are permitted to travel out
of this State upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born, And whereas
also upon the oath of William Eaton of Caroline County aforesaid that the
said mulattoe woman named Mary Hughes for whom this Certificate is ^made^
was free born I do therefore grant her said Application and hereby Certify
that from her own account she was twenty five years of age on the twentieth
day of March last past five feet two and a half inches high or thereabouts
was born and raised in Caroline County of a mulattoe complexion and has
a small scar of a dog bite on her left arm and has no other notable marks
or scars that I have observed

freedom agreeably to the acts of Assembly in such case made and provided;
by which said acts free negroes and mulattoes are permitted to travel out of this
State upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born:  And Whereas
also upon the oath of Mary Dillon of Caroline County Aforesaid that the
said negro woman named Mary Scott for whom this Certificate is made
was free born; I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify
that from her own account she is now about twenty five years of age five
feet and three quarters ^of an^ inches high or thereabouts was born and raised in
