112 thereabouts of a mulatto complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has a scar of a cut between her left thumb and fore finger and extending upon the hand and has two other small scars of cuts on her right arm and has no other notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 29th day of September A D. 1836 Jo Richardson Clk of $1.00 Caroline COunty Court State of Maryland Caroline County to wit; Whereas application hath been made to me by a negro woman named Jane Cannada for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided by which said acts free negroe's and mulattoe's are permitted to travel out of this State upon the obtention of a certificate of being free born: And Whereas also upon the oath of Eliza Atkinson of Caroline County that the said negro woman named Jane Cannada for whom this Certificate is made was free born: I do therefore grant her said application and hereby Certify that according to her own account she was nineteen years of age on the sixteenth day of October last five feet two inches high or thereabouts of a black complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has no notable marks or scars that I have observed (seal) In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the public seal of my office this 29th day of September A D. 1836 Jo Richardson Clk of Cost $1.00 Caroline County Court |
