June [Court 1718] [93] person appeared in Court And the [afd indict. being] [illegible] Cannot gainsay the Same and Submits to [the Court] [illegible] it is Considered by the Court here vizt this Nineteenth day of [June] [illegible] Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen That the afd [John] Faning Pay the Sume of Six pence Sterling money for his offence afd of not performing what he was obliged to for the Said orphan and also pay the Sume of two hundred and Eleven pounds of Tobacco Cost accruing on the premises afd JamsSmith Clk
within the Jurisdiction of this Court being by virtue of an Indenture then and now in force possessed of a Certain Orphan Boy named Samuell Haggis to keep and maintain the Sd Orphan boy after the manner of an Apprentice from the date in the Said Indenture Specified & abovementioned for & untill the Said Orphan Should arrive to the Age of twenty one yeares in which Said Term and Space last mentioned the Said Sarah the Sd Orphan Boy Should teach & Instruct or Procure to be taught and Instructed to read well in the Bible to write a fair legible Hand and to Cypher as far as the Rule of three and Should keep the Said Orphan Boy for and during the Sd Term or Space in the Sd Indenture mentioned yet the Said Sarah the Orphan boy hath not taught or Caused to be taught to read write or Cypher but at St. Pauls Parish in the County afosd. and within the Jurisdiction of this Court to the great damage of the Sd Samuell Haggis agt. the Peace of our Sd Lord propr. his Rule and dignity and agt. the form of an Act of Assembly of this Procince now in force in Such Case made and provided &c Johnson pr Dno propr. Billa vera pr Abram. Redgrave foreman And the aforesaid Sarah Jewers being Solemnly Called came and in her proper person appeared in Court and the afd. Indictment being read to her Saith that She cannot gainsay the Same and Submitts to the Court on Same Therefore it is Considered by the Court here viz this nineteenth day of June Anno Domini one thousand Seven hundred and eighteen that the afosd Sarah Jewers pay the Sum of [Six pence] Sterling money for her offence afd of not performing what She was obliged for the said orphan and also pay the summ of two hundred and four pounds of Tobacco Cost Accrueing on the premisses afd.
